After being preceded by various rumors and leaks, Huawei has finally officially launched its new flagship folding phone, the Mate X2 series. Unlike its predecessor, the Huawei Mate X2 brings significant changes to the screen fold mechanism.
The Huawei Mate X2 also features a 4,500 mAh battery, which supports 55W fast charging. This folding phone has a thickness of 8.2 mm with a weight of 295 grams.
Huawei Mate X2 comes with one RAM variant of 8 GB, which will be paired with 256 GB and 512 Gb storage options, as summarized from PocketNow.
The Huawei Mate X2 8 GB/256 GB variant sold for 17,999 Yuan. While huawei Mate X2 highest version 8 GB / 512 GB priced at 18,999 Yuan.
The first generation Mate X is known to have an outward fold model. This time, however, the Mate X2 instead carries an inward-facing fold design like a book closing motion, similar to the samsung galaxy fold and Galaxy Z Fold 2 designs.
For specifications, this folding phone has two screens. Huawei Mate X2’s main screen spans 8 inches with a resolution of 2480 x 2200 pixels. This screen supports 90Hz refresh rate and 240 Hz touch sampling.
One of the main features offered by Huawei Mate X2 is the main screen with no notch orch hole to load the selfie camera. That way, the user will have a full main screen.
So where is the front camera of this phone? Huawei utilizes the Mate X2 secondary display to immerse the 16 megapixel (wide, f/2.2) selfie camera. This screen can be used when the phone is in folded mode.
Like the Galaxy Z Fold (2020), the secondary screen in the Mate X2 is also large with a diagonal of 6.45 inches. The display also supports a 90 Hz refresh rate and 240 Hz touch sampling.
On the back of the secondary screen, there is a rectangular camera module as the home of four cameras.
The camera consists of a 50 MP (f/1.9) main camera with OIS, a 16 MP ultrawide camera (f/2.2), a 12 MP telephoto camera (3x Optical Zoom, (f/2.4), OIS), and an 8 MP telephoto camera (10x Optical Zoom, (f/4.4), OIS).
For the hardware sector, Huawei Mate X2 is powered by Huawei’s own System-on-Chip Kirin 9000.
Other supporting features brought by this folding phone include 5G connectivity support, Bluetooth 5.2, USB Type-C 3.1 port, NFC, and side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
Mate X2 runs the Android 10 operating system and is coated with the EMUI 11 interface. Like other Huawei phones these days, the Mate X2 is also not equipped with Google Play services.
